Achieve Fortitude
Wellness Consulting
Sheila Schuster, MA, LPCC, LADC

I am a licensed professional clinical counselor, licensed drug and alcohol counselor, and board certified clinical supervisor. I divide my time between working as a mental health therapist and a wellness consultant.

You may be wondering, "What is the difference between a counselor and a therapist or between a counselor and a wellness consultant?"

Counselors identify mental health symptoms, diagnose, and treat mental health concerns. Counseling tends to be shorter-term and addresses specific life challenges. Therapists work with more complex mental health conditions, such as trauma, bi-polar disorder, and schizophrenic spectrum disorders. Therapy lasts much longer than counseling.

Wellness consultants and life coaches help individuals or organizations identify specific health and wellness goals then develop personalized plans to improve overall health and well-being.

As a mental health therapist, I work with clients who are struggling with trauma, eating disorders, and other mental problems that are impacting daily functioning. As you can imagine, this is very challenging, yet rewarding, work.

As a wellness consultant, I use my skills to help individuals improve behaviors that are negatively affecting their physical and mental health and help them achieve desired success in tangible areas, such as fitness, vocational, or financial.
